NZFL manufactured moulded latex products for over 65 years in Christchurch prior to the 2011 earthquake, which sadly lead to the factory closure in mid 2012. Before the closure, in the previous 20 years of worldwide exporting experience, NZFL Latex Gold gained an enviable international reputation for consistent premium quality and customer care. As it became apparent that the factory was borderline uneconomic to repair, but more importantly, the difficulty of sourcing sufficient labour, as many people left Christchurch after the quake, NZFL began the exhaustive task of searching out a worlds best practices, manufacturer to continue creating their high quality requirement products.
Their painstaking search, and in depth study of possible candidates, eventually ended with the shortlisting and then selection of APRICO, a division of the Richard Pieris Company, to become the new manufacturer of the Latex Gold Brand.
